And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!' — Romans 10:15
Romans 10:15
Observation
Have you ever felt your words did not matter? Paul presents a divine chain of events here. Calling on God requires belief. Belief requires hearing. Hearing requires someone to speak. And speaking requires being sent by God. The entire work of salvation depends on this chain remaining unbroken. It highlights that sharing the gospel is not a human invention or a good idea we came up with. It is God's designated method for rescuing people. The responsibility and the honor fall to those who are sent.
Reflection
You may feel you are not equipped or eloquent enough to share the good news. But notice the passage does not ask if you are qualified. It asks if you are sent. The power is not in your presentation; it is in the One who sends you. John Chrysostom taught that the preacher is simply a channel through which God Himself speaks His grace. Your part is to be a willing messenger. You can trust God to empower your words because the mission was His idea from the start. What is one small step of obedience He is asking of you today?
Sit With This
God does not ask you to save anyone; He simply asks you to be the one who is sent to tell them about the Savior.
Prayer
Father, thank you for the privilege of carrying your good news. Forgive me for the times my fear has kept me silent. Give me the courage to speak for you today, trusting you with all the results. Amen.
Did You Know?
Roman heralds, or praecones, were official state messengers. Their proclamations were not their own opinions but carried the full authority of the magistrate or general who sent them.
