The Parables of Jesus

Welcome to our studies of “The Parables.”

When Jesus wanted to reveal the deepest truths about God’s Kingdom, he often told a story. These parables are more than simple moral tales; they are earthly stories with heavenly meanings, designed to both reveal and conceal divine mysteries (Matthew 13:10-11). They were Jesus’s primary method of teaching, inviting listeners with open hearts into a new way of seeing the world.

From the persistent sower scattering seed to the loving father welcoming home his prodigal son (Luke 15), these narratives unveil the radical nature of God’s grace and the upside-down values of His Kingdom. They don’t just offer information; they demand a response, compelling us to consider where we stand in relation to God.

Studying the parables deepens our faith because they bypass mere intellectual ascent and penetrate our hearts. They challenge our assumptions, expose our hidden motives, and invite us to find our own place within the story. As we wrestle with these divinely crafted narratives, we learn to see the world, ourselves, and our gracious God through the eyes of Jesus himself.
