Observation
What is the one non-negotiable in your life? Jesus gives a command followed by a promise. The command is to make two things your absolute priority: God’s kingdom and His righteousness. This is not about earning salvation; it is about orienting your entire life around God’s loving rule and His perfect character. The promise is that if you do this, all your material needs, the 'things' that cause so much worry, will be taken care of by your Father. Jesus is calling you to a radical reordering of your priorities, from anxious self-preservation to confident kingdom-allegiance.
Reflection
God is not asking you to ignore your needs. He is inviting you to entrust them to Him. When you make His rule the organizing principle of your life, He takes full responsibility for your provision. The fourth-century bishop Cyril of Alexandria saw this not as a bargain, but as a statement of divine reality. God simply cannot fail to care for those whose primary concern is His honor. He knows what you need before you ask. The question is not about His ability to provide, but about your willingness to trust. Will you let His kingdom be your first concern today?

Father, forgive me for putting my worries before Your kingdom. Help me to seek Your righteousness above all else today, trusting that You will faithfully provide for all my needs. Amen.
