Description
One word. Two pictures of history.
Daniel 9:27 says, “he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week.” Who is “he”? Some Christians hear Jesus, confirming the new covenant with his blood. Others hear a future Antichrist, signing a peace treaty with Israel at the end of the age. The same verse gives two very different pictures of history, and many believers have never been shown how to decide between them.
Many Christians have seen a fold-out prophecy chart, or have steered clear of Daniel 9 because it felt too complicated. This course is for both. It won’t hand you a chart to memorise. It helps you read the passage for yourself.
What you’ll learn
- The six great purposes of the seventy weeks. Daniel 9:24 promises to finish transgression, make an end of sins, make reconciliation, bring in everlasting righteousness, seal up vision and prophecy, and anoint the most holy. You’ll see why it’s one of the richest summaries of salvation in the Old Testament.
- How the timeline is built. Seven weeks, sixty-two weeks and one final week. You’ll learn what “sevens” means in Hebrew and how the numbers connect to Israel’s sabbath and Jubilee laws.
- Which decree starts the clock? The four Persian decrees (538, 520, 458 and 444 BC), and why two different starting points both arrive, remarkably, at the ministry of Jesus.
- The Anointed One who is “cut off”. How Daniel 9:26 connects with Isaiah 53, and why Christians have long seen the cross in this verse.
- The big debates, handled fairly. Is there a gap before the seventieth week? Who is “the prince that shall come”? What covenant is meant? The continuous view and the gap view each get their strongest case.
- The abomination of desolation. How Antiochus Epiphanes, Rome’s destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 and Jesus’ own words in Matthew 24 and Luke 21 fit together.
- How to handle prophecy wisely. What to hold firmly, what to hold loosely, and how to disagree with other believers without losing charity.

Who it’s for
It’s for individuals who want to understand Daniel properly, small groups and Bible study leaders looking for a balanced treatment, and anyone who has been confused (or put off) by end-times charts. You don’t need any background in Hebrew or prophecy. Every technical term is explained as you go.
Why this course is different
Most teaching on Daniel’s seventy weeks either argues one view and dismisses the rest, or buries you in dates. This study does neither. It takes the passage seriously enough to work through every disputed phrase. And it keeps the centre at the centre: whatever you decide about the calendar, the passage is about the Messiah, the defeat of sin and the everlasting righteousness God has promised.
You’ll come away understanding one of the Bible’s most remarkable prophecies. You’ll be able to explain it to others, and you’ll trust more deeply the God who holds history in his hands.
Open the prophecy that points, across five centuries, to the cross.
