The Humble Path to Truth

Have you ever asked for directions but only wanted confirmation for your own preferred route? The psalmist does the opposite. He doesn't present God with a plan for approval. Instead, he confesses his need for instruction from the ground up. He asks God to show, teach, and guide him. This is the posture of a dependent child, not a capable executive. He acknowledges that God’s ways and truths are not naturally known. They must be revealed by the Savior in whom he places his hope all day long (Psalm 25:5).

God is not hiding His will from you. He is not a reluctant guide. He is your Savior, and He delights in teaching His children the right way to walk. The question is never about His willingness to lead, but about your willingness to be led. It is easy to ask God for His opinion while still holding tightly to your own map. True guidance requires you to let go of your own understanding and trust His. He is faithful. You can trust His hand to lead you safely. In what area of your life are you asking for information but resisting His leading?

In each decision today, ask not 'What should I do?' but 'Lord, where are you leading me?'

Father, I confess that I do not know the way. Quiet my own opinions and teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth today, for my hope is in You alone. Amen.
