John 11:23-25

He Is Your Resurrection

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;” — John 11:25

John 11:25

Observation

Grief can shrink your hope down to a distant future. Martha believed in a resurrection on the last day (John 11:24). It was a correct doctrine but a cold comfort. Jesus gently corrected her. He did not say He would bring the resurrection. He said He is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25). He moved her hope from a future event to a present Person. Her brother’s future was not tied to a date on a calendar. It was tied directly to Jesus Himself.

Reflection

Your hope in the face of death is not a what, but a Who. It is Jesus. He holds all life in His hands. When you place your faith in Him, you are united to the very source of life itself. Death loses its finality. It becomes a doorway, not a dead end. This is not just a promise for someday. It is a reality for you today. Because He lives, your life is secure in Him right now, forever. Can you trust Him to be your life, even when you face death?

Sit With This

How does knowing that Jesus *is* your resurrection, right now, change the way you face the losses and fears of today?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for being my resurrection and my life. Help me to anchor my hope not in a future event, but in You alone. When I am afraid, remind me that my life is hidden with You. Amen.

Did You Know?

In Jesus' day, the Sadducees, a powerful Jewish group, did not believe in the resurrection of the dead. Jesus’ claim was a direct challenge to their theology and a great comfort.
