Your True Position

Where are you sitting right now? While your body is on a chair, this verse says your spirit is somewhere else entirely. Paul declares that God has already “seated us with him in the heavenly places.” This is not a future promise; it is a present reality. The verb is in the past tense. God has already done it. For the original audience, to be seated with a king was the highest possible honor. It meant you had the king’s favor, shared in his authority, and were secure in his presence. Paul uses this powerful image to describe your new identity. This position is not in a general spiritual realm, but specifically “in Christ Jesus.” Your new status is inseparable from His. Where He is, you are. He is seated at the right hand of the Father (Ephesians 1:20), a place of supreme authority over all rule and power. Therefore, by grace, that is your position as well. This is not something you earn; it is a gift that defines who you are.

Friend, I want you to let this truth sink in. Your position before God is not based on your performance today. It is not based on your feelings or your circumstances. Your position is fixed, secure, and established because you are in Christ Jesus. God sees you seated with His Son. This changes everything. It means you do not have to fight for a victory that has already been won. You operate from a place of victory. When you face trials, you face them not as a victim on the ground, but as one who is seated with the King. When you pray, you are not shouting up from a distance; you are speaking to your Father from a position of access and intimacy, right there with Jesus. This is a truth you can stand on. God has not left you to fend for yourself. He has given you the highest place of honor, security, and authority in His Son. Your struggles are real, but they do not define your location. Your true spiritual address is in the heavenly places. So how will you live today, knowing where you truly are?
