The Way God Knows
for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. — Psalm 1:6

Observation
Psalm 1 establishes the foundational contrast between two paths in life, that of the righteous and that of the wicked (Psalm 1:1-4). The righteous person, who delights in God's law, is depicted as a stable, fruitful tree, while the wicked are like weightless chaff, scattered by the wind (Psalm 1:3-4). The psalm concludes by grounding this ultimate distinction not in human merit, but in the Lord's own sovereign knowledge and judgment.
Reflection
It is a comfort to know the Lord 'yada'—intimately knows—your way. But the verse says He also knows the way of the ungodly. This divine sight is the basis for both perfect justice and tender mercy. For God to know the way of the wicked is to prepare it for judgment, but to know the way of the righteous is to watch over it with love. Because of Jesus, God's knowledge of you is not that of a prosecutor building a case, but that of a Father cherishing His child. How might this truth free you from the fear of being 'found out' and release you into the joy of being fully known?

Prayer
Father who knows me, thank you that your knowledge of my life is one of intimate care, not cold scrutiny. Remind me that in Christ, my way is a 'way of the righteous' and that you are watching over it with love. Help me to rest in being fully known by you, and to walk in the light of that truth today. Amen.
