The Secret to Great Gain

What if your net worth had nothing to do with your bank account? Paul is writing to Timothy in Ephesus, a city obsessed with wealth. Some were twisting the gospel, teaching that faith was a way to get rich (1 Tim 6:5). Paul sets the record straight. He gives a different formula for profit. He says true, lasting gain is not about accumulating more things. It comes from a life of godliness paired with a deep sense of contentment. This redefines wealth entirely, shifting it from the material to the spiritual.

Friend, God is not asking you to pretend you have no needs. He is inviting you to find your 'enough' in Him. The person who desires little is truly rich. This is not about having nothing. It is about knowing that in Christ, you already have everything that matters. Your security is not in your savings, but in your Savior. He has promised to provide for you (Matt 6:33). Your peace comes from resting in His goodness, not from striving for more. What one thing are you holding onto for security that you could entrust to Him today?

Today, notice every time you feel a desire for more, and ask God to replace it with a fresh awareness of His all-sufficient presence.

Father, forgive me for seeking my security in things that rust and decay. Help me to find my contentment in You alone, knowing Your presence is my greatest treasure. Let my heart be truly satisfied in Jesus. Amen.
