The event is the 'appearing of the glory' of a person. That person is 'our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.' This hope is not private; it is the public, glorious, and undeniable return of the King. This was the firm anchor for believers living in a hostile world. They knew their King was coming.

Your daily life can feel heavy. The struggles and the noise can drain your spirit. This verse is God’s word for you in those moments. You are waiting for a glorious event. More than that, you are waiting for a Person. The teacher Irenaeus reminded believers that this appearing is the final, beautiful act of God’s rescue plan. Your ultimate hope is not in your circumstances changing, but in your Savior returning. He is faithful. He will appear. How does knowing your King is on His way change how you face today?
