Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. — Galatians 6:2
Galatians 6:2
Observation
Love is not a feeling, it is an action. Paul gives the Galatian church a simple, practical command. Instead of judging each other, they are to help each other. This is not another rule to follow in order to be saved. It is the natural result of a life transformed by God’s grace. This act of carrying another’s load is how we live out the “law of Christ.” It is the very heart of the gospel made visible in our relationships with one another. Love is what proves our faith is real.
Reflection
God never intended for you to carry your heaviest weights alone. He designed the church to be a family where we support one another. When you help carry someone’s struggle, you are not just being kind. You are living out the law of love that Jesus Himself modeled. Your act of service becomes the very thing that binds you together in Him. God is faithful. He will not ask you to carry a burden for someone without giving you His strength to do so. How might God be asking you to help shoulder someone's weight today?
Sit With This
Whose burden can you help lift today, not with advice, but with practical, loving support?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you carried the greatest burden for me at the cross. Teach me how to bear the burdens of others with your grace and strength. May my love be a true reflection of your love for me. Amen.
Did You Know?
For Paul, the “law of Christ” was not a new set of rules like the Mosaic Law. It was the single, guiding principle of love for God and neighbor, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
