Observation
What if everything you have is simply on loan? Jesus sends His disciples with authority to heal, cleanse, and even raise the dead. Then He gives them a radical command about their ministry's economy. They are not to charge for the miracles they perform. The power they use was given to them freely by God. Therefore, they must give it away just as freely. This principle establishes that God's kingdom operates on grace, not on merit or payment.
Reflection
God's hand is never closed to you. Everything you have, from your breath to your salvation in Christ, is a free gift. Because He has given so lavishly, you can trust Him enough to open your own hand to others. The old writer Chrysostom saw this as a beautiful cycle. He taught that in giving, we lose nothing but simply invest in eternity. Your generosity does not deplete you; it connects you to the endless supply of God your Father. What is He asking you to hold with a more open hand today?

Trust that God's supply is greater than your need, so you can give freely from what He has so freely given you.
Prayer
Father, thank you for the grace You have poured into my life without cost. Help me release my tight grip on what You have given me and become a channel of Your generosity. May my life be marked by an open and trusting hand. Amen.
