The First and the Best

What does your bank account say you value most? This verse is a direct command to give God the first and best portion of all you have. For the ancient Israelite, the “firstfruits” were the initial, prime part of the harvest. Giving this portion away required immense faith. It was a tangible act of worship that declared God, not the land or their labor, was their true source of provision. It was a test of trust before the full harvest was even known.

God does not need your money. He owns everything. What He wants is your heart, and our wallets are often the clearest indicators of where our hearts are. He is asking you to trust Him. When you give to Him first, before any other bills are paid, you are making a powerful statement. You are declaring that He is your provider and your security. Our giving is not a loss, but an investment in what is eternal. Where are you tempted to trust your planning over His provision today?
