The Earth Is Full of His Glory

What if holiness is not just about being good, but about being different? Isaiah is given a vision inside the temple. He hears supernatural beings, seraphim, calling out to one another. This is not a human choir but a heavenly declaration, an immediate response to the direct presence of God. Their focus is not on themselves or even their role. It is entirely on the one they serve. They are captivated by who God is. The cry “Holy, holy, holy” is the highest possible form of emphasis in the Hebrew language. It declares that God is not just holy, but holiness itself, the very definition of purity and perfection. This is the central attribute of God's character. And this holiness is not contained in heaven. The seraphim declare that “the whole earth is full of his glory.” God's magnificent presence and character fill every part of creation, from the grandest mountain to the smallest detail of your life. He is the “Lord of hosts,” the commander of heaven’s armies, underscoring His supreme power and authority over all things.

Friend, it is so easy to make God small in our minds. We often think of Him as a slightly better version of ourselves. This verse corrects that dangerous thinking. God’s holiness means He is completely separate from sin, from creation, and from anything we can fully comprehend. He is pure, unapproachable light. This truth is not meant to push you away, but to draw you into a place of deep and loving reverence. When you get a glimpse of His holiness, it changes how you see yourself. Suddenly, your own sin becomes clear in the light of His perfection. But this is exactly where the good news of the gospel shines brightest. Jesus, the perfectly Holy One, willingly bridged the infinite gap between our sinfulness and the Father’s holiness. Through His sacrifice, you are invited into the presence of this holy God, not because you are good enough, but because of His amazing grace. You can trust Him today. You can trust that the Holy One who commands armies of angels also sees you and loves you. His holiness is not a standard you must struggle to achieve on your own, but a power that works in you through Christ. How will knowing you belong to this holy God change the way you approach just one conversation today?

Look for one specific place today where the earth declares God's glory, and pause to thank Him for it.

Holy Father, forgive me for making you small and forgetting your awesome purity. Help me to live today in reverent awe and deep love for you, seeing your glory all around me. Amen.
