The Blessing of Staying Put

Have you ever felt that God is the one who is late? This verse flips that idea on its head. In a moment when Israel was running ahead to Egypt for help, God tells them He is waiting for them. He is not being slow; He is being gracious. He is a God of perfect justice, whose timing is always right. The amazing truth here is that God's waiting is an act of mercy, creating an opportunity for His people to turn back. The blessing is found not in running, but in waiting.

It is so tempting to take matters into your own hands. When God seems silent, you want to make a plan, force a door open, or find your own solution. But notice what God is doing. He is waiting for you. He is not withholding His grace; He is waiting for the perfect moment to extend it. One early believer saw this divine delay as God’s loving invitation for the soul to learn humility. God is not ignoring you. He is creating a space for you to trust Him more deeply. Father, forgive me for running ahead of Your perfect timing. Help my anxious heart to trust that You are waiting to be gracious to me. Teach me to find the blessing in staying put and waiting for You. Amen.
