My God Will Hear Me

Everything around the prophet was collapsing. Micah’s world was filled with corruption, from judges taking bribes to families turning on one another (Micah 7:2-6). Trust was broken at every level of society. It felt like walking in darkness. In the face of this complete societal and moral failure, Micah makes a powerful personal declaration. He does not say “we will wait” but “I will wait.” His hope is not in a political solution or a change in human behavior. His hope is a person: “the God of my salvation.” This is not a vague wish. It is a decisive pivot. He turns his eyes away from the chaos and fixes them on the Lord. The prophet’s statement is a defiant act of faith. He stands as a watchman, looking for God’s intervention, convinced that even in the silence, God is listening. His confidence is not in what he can see, but in who he knows God to be.

Friend, do you feel like you are surrounded by darkness? Perhaps trust has been broken in a relationship, or you see the moral fabric of society unraveling around you. It is easy to let your heart grow faint. But God invites you to do what Micah did. To make a personal, decisive choice. You can say today, “Therefore I will look unto the Lord.” This is not wishful thinking. It is anchoring your soul to the character of God Himself. He is the God of your salvation. He has already accomplished the greatest rescue mission for you at the cross (Romans 5:8). If He did not spare His own Son for you, will He not also hear you now? Your waiting is not empty. It is filled with the certainty of His faithfulness. He hears your every prayer. His timing is not your timing, but His answer is always rooted in His perfect wisdom and love for you. What broken place in your life needs this confident declaration today?

Father, when my world feels dark, help me to fix my eyes on You alone. I choose to wait for You, the God of my salvation, trusting that You hear me. Strengthen my heart with this hope. Amen.
