And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant had stood; and they are there to this day. — Joshua 4:9

Observation
After miraculously crossing the Jordan on dry ground, God instructs Israel to build a memorial. While one set of twelve stones was placed publicly at their camp in Gilgal (Joshua 4:20), Joshua also set up a second twelve-stone monument in the middle of the riverbed itself (Joshua 4:9). These stones, marking the very spot where God's presence held back the flood, were immediately covered again by the rushing waters of the Jordan.

We often think our acts of remembrance must be public to be valid—a shared testimony, a photograph, a published story. Yet God commanded a memorial that no human eyes would ever see again.
