A House Not Made With Hands
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. — 2 Corinthians 5:1

Observation
Have you ever felt like your body is failing you? Paul contrasts two dwellings: a temporary “earthly tent” and a permanent “building from God.” He states with certainty, “we know,” this is a fact for the believer. This tent can be torn down by age, sickness, or persecution. But the destruction of the temporary does not mean the end of our story. It is the very event that reveals the permanent, perfect home God has already prepared for us, one that is eternal and heavenly.
Reflection
Friend, your body feels fragile sometimes, doesn't it? Aches and the slow march of time remind you that this life is temporary. But God wants you to see beyond the tent. He has a solid, eternal home waiting for you, built by His own hands. The early teacher Chrysostom described our bodies as fragile shelters, but our future home as a mansion of unshakable glory. This is not wishful thinking; it is your inheritance in Jesus. God is faithful to finish what He started in you. What part of your 'tent' are you entrusting to the Builder of your eternal home today?

Father, thank you that this fragile body is not my final home. Help me to live today with my eyes fixed on the eternal house you have prepared for me through Jesus. I trust Your promise completely. Amen.
Did You Know?
The phrase “not made with hands” was also used by Jesus to describe the new temple He would raise, contrasting it with the physical temple in Jerusalem (Mark 14:58).
