A Holy Place to Live

Have you ever truly considered where God lives today? Paul asks the Corinthian believers a question that should stop them in their tracks. He is writing to a church in a city filled with magnificent temples dedicated to pagan gods. The culture celebrated indulging the body’s appetites without restraint. In this context, Paul makes a radical claim. He declares that the believer’s physical body is not insignificant or purely for personal use. It is, in fact, God’s temple. This is not a status they achieved through good behavior. Paul is clear that the Holy Spirit is a gift, someone “whom you have received from God.” The presence of God is not in a building of stone and gold anymore. He has chosen to make His home in the hearts and bodies of His people. The verse ends with a logical and life-altering conclusion: “You are not your own.” Because God has taken up residence within you, you now belong to Him. Your body has a new owner and a new, sacred purpose.

Friend, I want you to let this truth settle deep into your spirit. The God of the universe, the Holy Spirit, has chosen to make His home in you. This is not a metaphor. It is the foundational reality of your Christian life. This fact gives your existence an unshakable dignity. No matter what the world says, no matter how you feel about yourself, you are the dwelling place of God Himself. Because God lives in you, your body is holy ground. It belongs to Him. Every choice you make, every place you go, every word you speak happens in the presence of your holy Guest. This truth is not meant to be a burden of rules. It is an invitation to live in constant, conscious fellowship with God. He is not a distant observer. He is a present companion, counselor, and friend who lives within you. So today, how will you honor the One who dwells in you? You do not have to strive in your own strength. You can trust the Holy Spirit to guide you, empower you, and help you live in a way that pleases the Father. He is faithful to complete the work He has started in you. Will you cooperate with Him today, acknowledging His presence in every moment?

Today, remember that you are holy ground because the Holy Spirit lives in you. Walk in that dignity.

Father, thank you for the incredible honor of making my body Your home. Help me to see myself the way You see me: as a holy temple set apart for You. Lord, guide my choices today so that my life brings you glory. Amen.
