A Careful Approach to Holy Things
And when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, as the camp sets out, after that the sons of Kohath shall come to carry these, but they must not touch the holy things, lest they die. — Numbers 4:15

Observation
God gives Moses and Aaron meticulous instructions for the Kohathites. Before the camp moves, the priests must cover the most sacred objects—the Ark, the table, the lampstand—with layers of cloth and sealskin (Numbers 4:5-14). Only then can the Kohathites approach to carry them on poles. The explicit warning is that they must not touch the holy things directly, or they will die, underscoring the immense, unapproachable holiness of God's presence among His people.
Reflection
These instructions may seem distant, but they teach us how to approach God. We no longer carry a physical ark, for God's presence now dwells in us through Christ. Yet, The fear of God is not terror but a careful reverence that keeps us from treating Him casually. This same holy God invites you into His presence, not with carelessness, but with humble awe. How does the way you approach prayer, Scripture, and worship reflect His worth?

Prayer
Holy God, forgive me for the times I have treated you with casual indifference. Instill in me a fresh sense of awe for who you are. Teach me to handle the holy things of my faith with the care and reverence you deserve. Amen.
